Get into itttt (yuh). @nextstoptheatre just opened Drowner by Nia Akilah Robinson this past weekend and it was lit. This show has consumed my mind for the past couple of months and I’m so happy that this show is out for people to see. Proud of our cast, production, and crew. It feels like just yesterday it was January 3rd and we were at our first rehearsal…and now it’s already February. AND it’s Black History Month. The perfect time for a world premiere like this. And ya wanna know what Amber thinks? SINCE it is Black History Month, you might as well come see a Black show by a Black playwright with two Black women co-leading. Excited to be apart of the District Fringe festival this year. Now to Ashes is a play following four exceptional abolitionist women. It reflects on an extremely polarized time in American history and pulls parallels from the past to the present to provide guidance for confronting our current conflicted times. Each woman’s story gives the audience a varying perspective on how to respond to injustice, regardless of their own time period.

Throwback to last year when I got an invite on AA to audition for Harry Potter on Broadway. Then I was blessed to receive a callback and flew to NY with no hesitation. This was the video I submitted. My first production at the @folgerlibrary ! My first time understudying! I learned a lot, met some beautiful people and watched phenomenal work being done. It was such a privilege being in the room, watching the show being molded into what it is today. Being there for every conversation, thought, impulse. A true master class. And hey, I learned how to hold a guitar🙂‍↕️. A Room in the Castle by @lalatellsastory directed by @kajadunn closes April 6th.

- I have been cast as Ophelia u/s in the World Premiere of A Room in The Castle by (one of America’s most produced playwrights) Lauren Gunderson. “In this parallel retelling of Hamlet, Gunderson shifts the spotlight to Ophelia, Gertrude, and Anna, Ophelia’s steadfast handmaid, as they contend with the chaos and danger surrounding them in the male-dominated court.” March 4- April 6th @folgerlibrary .👑

- If you follow me on my personal (@ambie_is_ok )you know I recently joined @onlymakebelieve as a resident actor in Washington, DC! I have joined a talented team that thrives on creating interactive theatre experiences for children in hospitals, special education schools, and care facilities.🎭

- And lastly I’ve been cast as Galatea in the Elizabethan era stage play Galatea @theatreprometheus ! John Lyly’s Galatea is a queer love story set inside the landscape of classical myth. In order to avoid becoming dinner for a sea monster, Galatea and Phillida are sent into the forest dressed as boys. So pretty much As You Like It meets A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Run is from April 18th- May 10th.🐉

This was my first devised theater project. And it was a challenging and rewarding experience. Same as my first year in grad school a challenging and rewarding experience. When I finished The first draft of my script I immediately regretted getting too vulnerable about my mental health. Thank you to @essencethomas_ Who helped choreograph my piece, understood what I wanted and immediately got it. Sometimes I’m not the best at words but I feel that my art speaks for itself. Thankful to have been a part of a community that allowed me to take up space and to just breathe. We made something beautiful.

Saw Grimmz Fairy Tales yesterday and it was “magical”. Witnessed my beautiful friend Isabel shine onstage and that cast did not come to play! Loved the creativity. There needs to be more shows like this. Kids NEED more shows like this. Thank you @ctcharlottenc for making this happen.
